WHO CC for Health Information and Library services

Medical library, Seoul National University College of Medicine was designated as a WHO Collaborating Center on 17 February 2014. 

 

 

 

Seoul National University College of Medicine was designated as a WHO Collaborating Center for Health Information and Library Services(HILS) on 17 February 2014, redesignated on 17 Febrary 2018, effective on 17 February 2020. 

 

 

 

 

Terms of Reference(TOR) 2018.2.17 ~ 2020.2.17 

TOR 1 - To assist the WPRO Library in the migration of the old catalogue system (ISIS OPAC) to a new integrated library system (ILS-KOHA) for physical items 

 

  • Activity 1 – Preparation for the migration of the old library system catalogue (ISIS OPAC)  to the new integrated library software  (ILS-KOHA)  

 

  • Activity 2 – Migration of  the old library system catalogue (ISIS OPAC)  to the new integrated library software  (ILS-KOHA)  

 

TOR 2 - To assist in collaborating support in providing reference and bibliographic services on health information for researchers and Member States of the WPR.

 

  • Activity 1 - Document delivery services

 

  • Activity 2 - Review and apply reference check of WPRO proposed manuscript 

 

  • Activity 3 - Inventory of publications uploaded in the WPRO web but not included in the WHO digital library (IRIS)
 

 

Terms of Reference 2014.2.17 ~ 2018.2.17

 

TOR 1 - Assist WHO in facilitating the Institutional Repository for Information Sharing(IRIS)

 

  • Activity 1 : Technological development of the IRIS WP interface(Dspace) for end users : Access to reliable health information is considered to be one of the most cost-effective strategies for health improvement in developing countries. This is important in the Western Pacific Region because it includes some of the world's least developed countries and most rapidly emerging economies.

 

  • Activity 2 : Assist in the scanning and cataloguing into IRIS of WHO’s published material and technical information kept in Country Offices and in the Regional Office.

 

 

 

TOR 2 -  Collaborate with the WHO Western Pacific Regional Office Library, support Western Pacific country offices in setting up basic library services

 

  • Activity 1 : Customized support of library information to WPCO based on internal survery in country offices to analyze their needs in term of resources, information/library tools and infrastructure. 

 

  • Activity 2 : Assist Regional Office Library in Promoting and organizing training and workshop based on needs assessment, a training mostly focused on basic library services for non-librarians working for WHO in the WR and CLOs offices

 

    
TOR 3 - Assist in collaborating support for regional reference services on health information for researchers and Member States in the Western Pacific Region

 

  • Activity 1 : Creation and maintenance of a dedicated website for external researchers with online registration and inquiries for accessing WHO material

 

  • Activity 2 : Document delivery service to WHO staff and researchers to access full text articles on databases not subscribed under GIFT and not available in PubMed

 

  • Activity 2 : Continued support to the development of the journal article database in coordination with KAMJE and IMICAMS.
