The Medical Library(located in Daehak-ro 103, Jongno-gu, Seoul) is a service organization that supports education, research, and learning activities at the Seoul National University’s Yeongeun campus. In accordance with the enforcement decree on the Establishment of Seoul National University, we are opened on the 2nd floor of the Medical College as a medical school library in 1943. In 1967, it was renamed as the Medical Library of Seoul National University Library. In 1971, we established a medical library in accordance with the Seoul National University Integration Plan. In February 1978, the current 2-story building was newly opened with sponsorship from the US CMB Foundation.
In the meantime, there has been an increase of the data and a lack of available user space. In 1993, with the support of Seoul National University Hospital, we expanded additional one floor and secured a capacity of 200,000 books and 560 seats. In addition, we are renovating existing facilities to provide efficient service to users.
In 1992, with the recommendation from the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, the Medical Library established the Korea MEDLARS Center in accordance with the mutual agreement with the US National Library of Medicine.
